Cloud Engineer - AWS
About the role
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Cloud Engineer to join our collaborative team based in Wellington CBD. This role offers the opportunity to dive deeply into Axos’s cloud infrastructure on AWS, and support the evolution and optimization of our systems. You’ll work across our AWS-based architecture, enhancing system reliability, scalability, and security, and have a significant impact on how we manage and process critical energy data. Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure to support our cloud-based services
Implement and manage infrastructure as code using Terraform
Optimize cloud resources to improve system performance, reliability, and cost efficiency
Collaborate with software engineers to integrate infrastructure solutions into the development lifecycle
Set up and manage monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure high availability and swift response to issues
Implement security best practices and secure against cybersecurity threats.
Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade cloud systems and components
Consult with stakeholders on technical decisions
Produce technical documentation
What you bring
Hands-on experience with AWS technologies, such as EC2, RDS, S3, ECS, Lambda, Serverless services, etc. Preferably with certifications (not required)
Strong knowledge of infrastructure as code (IaC) tools, particularly Terraform.
Understanding of network architectures, security protocols, and best practices on AWS
Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or a similar language
Experience with container services especially Docker and orchestration
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing infrastructure issues
Openness to learning new technologies and adapting to evolving cloud environments
